Beijing, China
Visit one of the best preserved sections of the Great Wall and view the burial site of emperors. Begin with a drive to the Badaling Hills, the highest point of the Guangou Gorge, to the astonishing Great Wall. During your visit, you will learn the fascinating history and legend of this engineering marvel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that once stretched for more than 6,200 miles. Later, stroll the Sacred Way of the Ming Tombs, situated in a beautiful valley that emperors chose as their burial place. Upon arrival, follow the long and beautifully manicured entrance to the tombs. This tree-lined avenue is guarded by 18 pairs of massive sculptures of elephants, lions, camels and mythical beasts. You may pause and admire the grand marble gateway known as the Great Red Gate. More than 400 years old, this three-arched structure is one of the largest stone archways in China.
