We're in Vegas baby!

Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
36 hours in Vegas, I must be mad. Knew from the start there'd be no sleep but that's okay, you're not supposed to waste time sleeping & that's been the theme from the very beginninig of this journey.

Belinda, Ash & myself fly into Sin City about 9pm & cab it to the hotel as it's close but Saturday night traffic makes it slow going but a good way to see the sights . Last time I was here was 1991 & it''s certainly bigger & badder looking but just as outrageous & loud as before. Forgot you're allowed to smoke in the casinos here so you really notice it as you walk around & I'm very thankful I gave up when I did. Caesars Palace is by far the biggest kid on the block, it just goes on forever & ever but we staying next door in the Bellagio which is one of the most posh & I think the most beautiful without being tacky & overdone. I paid for the basic room but was upgraded to a fountain view room with the fountain show on every half hour to music, it's just an awesome sight. The room is huge, the bathroom is massive with separate deep tub & shower & I've worked out I could fit my kitchen & laundry in this bathroom, crazy big! Have the curtains & sheers open (all automated by the way, buttons for everything) so I can see the view of the strip go from day to night & back to day.
We decide to go for a walk & see the sights & get back to my room about midnight but it's 3am New York time, bags under my eyes got their own luggage!

Sunday is wedding day & I meet the happy couple downstairs at 9 .30 & we get picked up in the shuttle bus for the gun range. Had a very different reaction than I thought I would when we got onto the range after our safety intro with glasses & earmuffs in place. We decided Ash would go first & as he stepped up to the plate the guy a couple of places down started firing. It was loud even with the ear protection on & the vibration when right through you. Belinda & I looked at each other with a "what are we doing" look & I felt a bit nervous because these are real guns with real bullets. The Gun Garage is very professional & the staff fantastic & we did have a lot of fun in that environment. Got to shoot a shotgun, AK-47 & uzi which all had big recoil & I have nice bruise coming up on my arm where they were tight up against my shoulder. I preferred the Glock 9mm handgun which was easier to use & control & I'm quite a good shot as it turns out. We have a buffet brunch back at the Bellagio which is a mandatory event in Vegas & I smuggle out a banana & muffin for brekkie the next day .

After a short respite back in my room & a change of clothes we meet again downstairs & a limo collects us for the wedding at the Vegas sign where we meet mini Elvis the celebrant. What a cracker this guy is, talks a million miles & hour & is just full on & flat out the whole time. He made it a lot of fun & it was a beautiful sunny day, just perfect. Congratulations Belinda & Ash, 10 years down & we all wish you many more happy years together.

Our limo takes us for a drive around Vegas after the ceremony (& many photos later) & we enjoy a bottle of bubbles, ahh the only way to travel. We finish off the day seeing the Jersey Boys show at the Paris Casino which was fantastic Sang along to all the songs, just brilliant. We have cocktails after the show & walk the strip looking at a few more of the hotels, what a sight some of them are, a very surreal place all round.

Another late night & I'm up early for a 9am flight to Hawaii. On the home stretch now & looking forward to my down time & relaxing in Honolulu before I have to come home back to reality & my credit card bill.

See you all soon,
Sammy xxx
