Ko Phangan, Thailand
We arrived at Chumphon a little earlier than expected as the bus driver drove like a maniac. It was around 5:30am and I felt terrible after very little sleep so I plonked myself in a deck chair on the beach and fell asleep. I woke up and it was time to get the high speed catamaran, so we made our way across the long wooden pier. Our backpacks were flung onto the front of the catamaran, so we hoped it wasn't going to rain! I thought I would have been able to get some more sleep on the boat as it took a couple of hours to reach Ko Phangan, but how wrong of me. The journey was so rough that a fair few people were being violently sick and the staff were constantly handing out sick bags, to people all around me, which made me feel a little sick myself. We arrived at Ko Tao and were sat waiting at the pier for ages, until we were told there was a delay due to a technical issue. The delay actually lasted around two hours and by this point we were so tired and in need of food. We finally got moving again and arrived at Ko Phangan. We started walking along the pier and found a taxi rank. We were directed to a nice, air-conditioned mini-van but once it was full the driver asked us for our ticket, we didn't have one, so instead we had to pay B100 each. We got dropped off outside 'Greenpeace Bungalows' where it was a steep walk down hill to reception. After the owner asked for my name and immediately claimed I had been sending him messages on facebook, which I hadn't, I heard my name being screamed so turned around to see Sam and Alex in the sea. They came wading out, followed by Dean who was busy trying to crack open a coconut. Shane, the Aussie, was further out to sea but soon followed, probably confused as to why the girls randomly started screaming. Andrew and I had a quick shower then we all sat round having our first Chang beer together and I gave in to Western food. We continued drinking Chang before getting ready to venture into Haad Rin. The boys, by this point, were already a little worse for wear.

We went to 'Same Same' bar and I had a red curry that took my face off and my first SangSom/Red Bull/Coke bucket . We then went to 'Drop-In' bar for a bit of fire-rope skipping. We had clearly all had too many buckets by this point and I received a Ko Phangan scar as a reminder of my stupidity. However, Andrew was probably the most stupid of us all, as his t-shirt caught fire. I started pointing at his t-shirt from the other side of the rope, but he just smiled back at me. A random managed to finally make him aware that he was on fire! The 'Drum & Bass' bar which we went to next seemed to make Dean go a little crazy. He began to shout, "Use your accessory!" at us all. Shane was slightly gutted that he did not have one, but us girls were sorted with our faithful handbags! We continued up to 'Mellow Mountain' bar where Shane decided to stick his head through the railings as he felt a little sick, whilst me and Alex had a good little dance. We decided it was time to call it a night and struggled to carry Shane back to Greenpeace.
