Our first morning alarm...

Ko Samui, Thailand
We woke up to our first alarm and packed everything up, which took a while as we had stuff all over the place. We had one final breakfast at Greenpeace then got a taxi to Thongsala pier courtesy of Mike. We would certainly miss his hospitality as he cheerily said, "Goodbye Amy - Goodbye Andrew" as we drove away. It started raining really heavily just as we were waiting for the Seatran ferry, but I luckily had my waterproof jacket within easy reach in my backpack. We made it to Ko Samui, even though the sea was rather choppy and the sky was really grey, and got our taxi transfer to Lamai beach.

We had clearly become fond of green places as we stayed at 'Green Villa', which was actually a bit rotten and smelly . After a short rest we decided to go for a walk to check out the place, but we had to take shelter at one point as there was another heavy downpour. It started easing off after a while so we continued on to the beach, which looked like Redcar beach albeit with a little less rubbish! We thought a drink was a better option so we stopped off at 'MYNT' bar. I was shocked when I saw that the price of a cocktail was only B52. This, I thought, was very cheap until Andrew informed me that 'B52' was the name of an actual cocktail. We went to eat at a Swedish restaurant where I made a good Thai choice of food, whereas Andrew opted for a burger. He later told me it was a little bit pink in the middle, which explained why he was pulling a concerned face at the table whilst eating the thing. We had to walk back to our bungalow in the rain and even though I was wearing my raincoat it did very little to keep me dry. Andrew taught me another new card game called 'RACHEL' whilst we drank Chang on the cheap from a 7 Eleven. I got a little freaked out by the medium sized spider in the bathroom, but I climbed into my sleeping bag liner, of which Andrew was most jealous, and we both slept under our mosquito nets to make us feel that little bit more safe and secure!
