Cockroach silly-o-clock!

Ko Samui, Thailand
I woke up at 3:38am and I was desperate for the toilet, so I braved the filthy bathroom on my own. On my way back to bed a cockroach must have followed me and words cannot describe how scared I was over the stupid scuttling black insect. It hid behind a bag on the floor before it darted under the bed so I stayed awake until about 6am as I was full of fear! Green Villa is not a patch on Greenpeace!

The bathroom was not a nice place to be at all so whilst one of us had a shower the other stood guard . Once we were ready we had a walk to 'Hin Ta' and 'Hin Yai' which were also called the Grandmother Rock and Grandfather Rock respectively. There was a bus load of school children there, giggling at the rocks that resemble the female and male genitalia. We then hired a moped and went to the 'Big Buddha' temple, which was basically a twelve metre high gold statue. It didn't quite have a genuine Thai temple feel to it. We then drove to Bophut, which had a noticeable French influence and was tagged as a 'Fisherman Village'. It even displayed a sign that read 'Bon Voyage' on the main road out. There were a number of little boutique shops and upmarket restaurants sprinkled along the promenade. On our way back to 'Green Villa' we stopped off at Chaweng, the main beach on the island, and I had the best Thai meal yet. I randomly ordered crispy pork and kale, a Thai dish, even though we were in a British pub called 'The Islander'. Andrew had an awesome duck curry, but was still a bit jealous of my choice as the pork was like crackling.

Once we arrived back at our awful bungalow it was time to stand guard again whilst we both had a hot shower. We then had a walk to 'MYNT' bar for a SangSom, as the idea was to get a little drunk so we wouldn't wake up and notice the insects scuttling around on our bungalow floor! We walked further down the street and went into another bar called the 'OUTBACK' where we decided to get a SangSom set, as it was far cheaper than a single SangSom. The quantity of alcohol we had drunk meant we were hungry so we stumbled upon McDonald's but we were the only people sat inside eating. We fell asleep straight away as a result of the SangSom, so our plan was a success.
