Reptilian Day

Ko Samui, Thailand
I was glad to find it was light when I first opened my eyes and there was not a cockroach in sight. The sun was shining after a few days of stormy weather, so we drove into Lamai then walked to the 'Continental Bakery' where I had a blueberry pancake and Andrew had what was officially called a 'Super Healthy Breakfast'. We then walked along a boardwalk by a canal and spotted some rather large monitor lizards swimming around. The boardwalk led to a wooden bridge over the beach and we could see that the waves were fairly high and it would have been impossible to even step foot into the sea. The sea was far calmer on Ko Phangan and the beaches were far superior, so we were beginning to wonder why everyone made such a fuss over Ko Samui!

We had a drive to Wat Khunaram, where there was a mummified monk wearing a pair of sunglasses, which was a weird sight . I spotted another reptilian as we were leaving the Wat, a green snake wrapped around a tree. As the sun was out we decided to go to Lamai beach, but it turned out to be a complete disaster. The waves were ridiculously strong and there was very little beach, not enough to even put down a towel, so we instead went to sit around the pool at 'Green Villa' but we got eaten alive by insects so had to sit inside our bungalow!

We went to eat at 'Bauhaus' restaurant and we were so hungry that we got a starter as well as a main course as a little treat. I had to go to the toilet as I had a water infection and when I returned to our table I had a horrified look on my face, which Andrew spotted immediately. He kept asking me what was wrong but I was in shock! I told him not to laugh first then told him that my urine was bright blue in colour. It was the weirdest thing ever, but as I had been to the pharmacy the day before and had been given medication I assumed it was a side-effect. However, it actually stained the toilet bowl bright blue! We went for a drink at 'OUTBACK' bar before walking back to our bungalow.
