Final Dive

Ko Tao, Thailand
We had another early start at 6:30am but Andrew was tempted to stay in bed after he could not dive the previous day. However, he decided to give it another go, along with the fact that I didn't want to go alone. We had some chill out time on the boat as we headed out to' Chumphon Pinnacle' so that the 'Advanced PADI Course' divers could do a thirty metre dive.

We returned closer to Ko Tao to dive at 'Twins' dive spot, but again Andrew couldn't equalize so he had to accept that he would not be able to do anymore diving . The water at 'Twins' was so clear which just added further to his disappointment. Our final dive was at 'White Rock' dive spot where I did an eighteen metre dive. However, as I began to ascend the air wasn't flowing out of my regulator as fast as usual, so I had to use Steve's alternate regulator. I was fairly freaked out and once I got to the surface my BCD wouldn't inflate either, which proved that the air wasn't flowing as normal. We returned to the classroom to complete our final PADI exam. I got the highest score with only a little cheating! We then went to watch the sunset at 'Wind Beach Resort' before meeting up with all our diving crew at 'The Brother' to watch our dive video.

Sounds like your tank valve was not fully open...scarey. Always make sure you do this yourself or your buddy does it. The only way scuba gear can fail is 'downstream', meaning it flows more than you want. Your experience was clearly user error. And as a new diver, not your fault. Dive safe!
