Chiang Mai, Thailand
We found a cool little cafe for breakfast but they weren't serving breakfast. It seemed as if everything was always closed for us! We carried on walking and found another place instead, where I got very well cooked poached eggs and Andrew had an omelette. We decided to attempt to walk around the entire moat surrounding the old city which obviously did not happen as it was far too hot and we were distracted somewhat by the shops around the outside. I got over excited at the sight of a beauty shop and finally managed to buy myself a loofah, whilst Andrew got over excited at the range of net-books available in the Computer Plaza and I ended up agreeing that we should buy one. Although I made him opt for the red one rather than the boring black one, which I could tell he wasn't pleased about but had no other choice but to agree! We came across a bowling alley but it looked closed, much to our disappointment. We then visited Wat Lok Molee, which was an old, traditional temple, beautifully designed and in a lovely garden setting. It made a refreshing change to the new, modern, bright gold temples we have seen in Thailand. The moat was filled with large carp and we spotted a half eaten catfish on the path beside the moat during our walk.

We had to wait two hours for the shop to set up our net-book so we went back to our guesthouse . I waited there whilst Andrew walked around to collect it later in the baking sun. I had a panic attack whilst I was on my own, so when Andrew finally returned I was in a bit of a state. I was so fed up of feeling as if I couldn't get my breath so we got in a Tuk Tuk and went to the McCormick Hospital. The doctor was a little unpleasant and basically said that I shouldn't have gone diving in the first place, which I said was pretty unhelpful at the moment. She sent me to another room to have a blood test. However, it was no ordinary blood test as the nurse literally stabbed me in the arm with a needle in the hope of entering an artery! This so-called arterial blood test meant it was a bit pot luck as to whether the needle was inserted into an artery, as you cannot see an artery underneath the skin like you can a vein. I was hysterical after the nurse had failed on two occasions to find an artery. It was the most pain I have ever endured and so the tears started flowing! A different nurse came over to help and I was taken to a bed to lie down and calm down, whilst she took over and found an artery straight away. The whole room was now looking in my direction and it was then that I realised just how dirty and run down the hospital appeared to be, so this then freaked me out even more. I returned to the waiting room and the doctor called me to tell me that the result was normal. I explained that I thought it may just be panic and so she prescribed me anti-anxiety medication. I felt so traumatised after leaving the hospital that we went to Burger King for a whopper meal! This made it the third day in a row that we had eaten a burger. However, it was so good and it tasted exactly like it does at home which was a bonus.
