Chiang Rai, Thailand
We had such a good sleep which I wasn't really expecting, as at first I felt a little uncomfortable in our room as it was in an old wooden house. Our alarm went off as we had a 9am appointment with a specialist at the hospital. There was no sign of the doctor, as we were directed to sit outside 'Room 2' but it was empty. There were a lot of other people waiting so we were expecting a long wait ahead, but eventually the doctor turned up. He believed the muscles in my chest may have been inflamed, so he prescribed anti-inflammatory tablets to go alongside all the other medication in my bag. We returned to Chat House and had eggs for breakfast along with the nicest cup of tea we have had so far on our trip. The huge mug it was served in made it all the better! I had to have a little snooze, as my body can no longer handle being woken up by an alarm.

Later, we had a walk to the 'Fresh Market' where we saw a bucket full of live fish ready to be chosen and thrown on the BBQ, cooked to order! However, I thought it was a little bit weird to watch the death of your own food . We opted for the safe bet, deep-fried chicken and corn on the cob. After an afternoon spent reading we decided to walk to the Night Bazaar. There was a restaurant in the centre of a square in a lovely wooden building with a silver finish to the roof. We ate whilst live musicians played on the stage in front of the restaurant. I stupidly ordered spaghetti carbonara, which should have been named on the menu as spaghetti scrambled egg. It was rancid, all curdled and wrong in every way! Andrew didn't chose any more wisely, ordering a northern Thai dish that tasted like soil. We spotted 'Swensen's Ice Cream Parlour' and couldn't resist. It took us ages to decide what we wanted off the extensive menu! In the end I chose an Oreo sundae, whilst Andrew had a Malteser sundae. It was a bit of a blow to our budget, but we didn't care one bit! On the way back to Chat House Andrew had a little accident...
