The best satay sauce ever!

Ko Phayam, Ranong, Thailand
We both had a bit of a sore head when we woke up after an evening on the SangSom! We needed food to sort us out so drove to 'Ban Nam Chaa' which was an invitingly hippy bakery. In fact all of the food was home-made and Andrew sampled some random jam. We returned to our bungalow to pack and move to 'Sabai Sabai' which was near the pier. Andrew took his backpack first and came back for me and my backpack, copying the trick of the moped "taxi" driver. He thoroughly enjoyed his morning of rallying back and forth across the island. However, he had to return the moped which meant a fair walk for him whilst I stayed at our new bungalow. He turned up thirty minutes later with quite a sweat on as it was around midday. We couldn't get any food at our restaurant as they only served breakfast throughout the day so we headed to 'Blue Sky Resort' next door which was rather upmarket. It had huge, chill out cushions that you practically sunk into whilst looking out to sea. The chef even came over personally after we had eaten to ask if everything was alright with the food. It was, even though my mouth was on fire as the curry had been so hot. We returned to our bungalow and chilled out on our veranda, which had a hammock, woven rug, axe bed, small wooden table and shell ash tray.

We went for a shower later which was literally a watering can head attached to a hosepipe which was then nailed to a palm tree . It was open-air, but to cover your nakedness palm leaves and a few wooden planks surrounded it. I didn't quite feel in touch with nature, but more scared of it! We later sat in the communal area, which was nicely decorated, playing cards for a while and then got talking to a Dutch couple. We had a BBQ with quite a few people all sat round a low table which had a nice feel to it. The best bit was the home-made satay sauce which was far superior to any Chinese satay sauce I have sampled. We just finished eating when it started to rain, so we helped gather up all the soft furnishings to put them under the shelter. We spent the rest of the evening chilling with everyone.
