Pirate Day

Ko Phayam, Ranong, Thailand
I woke up suddenly at around 2am to a loud thud outside of our bungalow. Andrew kindly informed me that it was just a coconut falling from a tree, but he was a bit concerned as it was rather loud and really had no idea himself! I then woke up again at 3am and had to ask Andrew to turn the light off as he had fallen asleep. I then woke up again at 7:30am to a phone alarm that went off because the phone had been left on overnight. I then managed to sleep until 10am, but still felt tired after a broken sleep. We drove to 'Multi Kulti' and decided to get lunch rather than breakfast, as yesterday we were full until much later in the day. We then drove a few metres up the road when the moped suddenly cut out. We were luckily right outside the shop where we usually buy gasoline, so bought a litre and that did the job, clearly we don't get as many km per litre with the old banger of a moped. We spent a few hours in our usual bamboo beach hut as it was quite a cloudy day. We sat and watched a boat anchor near shore and whilst one crew member swam to shore to collect two bottles of SangSom from the 'Hippy Bar' the others jumped in and out of the sea and generally made a lot of noise. We came to the conclusion that they were sea gypsys who had clearly ran out of rum! We headed to 'Blue Sky Resort' to abuse the WiFi, just for a change, as we needed to look ahead at the next place on our itinerary. On the way back we picked up some free mangos and as we were walking over the bridge one of the owners was getting on his moped. He seemed super happy to be back on the island. I was also rather happy as I had missed the feeling of security as well as the nice food! We sat and had a SangSom and Pepsi on our veranda whilst one of the owners showed somebody the bungalow next door, which was actually attached to our bungalow. I will be disappointed if we get a neighbour.

I was so glad we could go and eat in our restaurant, I had missed the place! We both ordered a green curry, but just to be awkward I had chicken, Andrew had pork and I had "medium spicy" whilst Andrew had "spicy" just to show off as usual . A lovely stray dog came over to see us and it only had one eye, but on closer inspection the eye in question had just been pushed downwards and was bulging out of one cheek. We sat on our veranda for a while before bed.
