Full Moon Extravaganza

Ko Phayam, Ranong, Thailand
We both randomly woke up at 4am and it took us a while to get back to sleep. We had breakfast then drove to the pier to sort everything out for our departure. We picked up some bread rolls for lunch before returning to our bungalow. We chilled out all day on our veranda. A fairly big lizard fell off the roof of the bungalow and cracked off a concrete block. It was actually the noise that made us realise the lizard in the first place! It seemed rather confused as it moved across the ground slowly but as soon as it saw Andrew it ran ridiculously fast! We ate for one last time in our restaurant before heading next door to the 'Hippy Bar'. I had an awesome Singapore Sling cocktail whilst Andrew helped himself to a Chang. In the toilet Andrew saw a toad which I thought looked fake as it was completely still and looked like it was a souvenir. So when I tapped it with a stick I was surprised at how quickly it moved away! In our bungalow as I was shutting the window I noticed another toad perched on the window ledge, clearly they all came out to play today!

The owner had tried to tell me something about the moon at breakfast but his English wasn't very good so all I gathered was that it was a Full Moon . However, when we had a look it did seem bigger and brighter than a normal Full Moon. It turned out that the moon was only 221,565 miles away from the Earth, which is the closest it has been in almost 20 years. Therefore, it appeared 14% bigger and 30% brighter than usual.
