Oh dear Ao Patong...

Phuket, Thailand
We woke up early yet again and went for our complimentary breakfast. It was clearly no day for sitting on the beach as there wasn't an inch of blue sky and it looked like it was more than likely going to rain. However, we still decided to go to Ao Patong, only to see first-hand the over-development of the place. It was worse than we ever imagined and definitely worse than Chaweng on Ko Samui, which we thought was pretty bad at the time. The streets were lined with tacky souvenir shops and we got hassled after each step we took, which we hadn't experienced in a while so it was even more annoying. However, I did still desperately need a pair a flip-flops so needed to tackle the chaos. One shop asked for B150 and wouldn't take B100, so we walked a little further down the street and found the same pair, but the price was B400! We had a right laugh and continued to the bottom of the street that had a better selection anyway for B150. We reached the beach that was over-crowded by a long way as it wasn't that wide yet sun-loungers and parasols took up almost every inch of sand.

We went to the big indoor shopping complex, Jungceylon, to do a spot of window shopping . We obviously had to have a Burger King as it was right there in our face! I bought myself a new bikini at the bargain price of B200. We wandered around the shops for a while before getting a songathew back to the Old Town. We chilled out in our hostel before heading to Soi Romanee for a drink. They didn't serve food so we then went to the place we had eaten on our first night in Phuket. I got a salad that was by far the hottest thing I have eaten so far in Thailand. I struggled on through but after I had finished I was in agony!
