Sepang F1 Circuit

Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia
We got up and got ready before walking to 'Kuala Lumpur Train Station' which was only around ten minutes away. We bought a return ticket to Nilai. It took around an hour and at the other end there was a 'Skybus' waiting to transfer us to the 'Sepang F1 Circuit' for a greater cost than the train ticket! We then had to get onto a different shuttle bus to take us to the actual entrance. There was a ticket collection booth opposite the entrance but when we tried to collect our ticket we were told we had to go to a different counter inside the 'Welcome Area'. The security seemed fairly relaxed as you didn't even have to show your ticket, or confirmation letter in our case, to pass through into the 'Welcome Area'. However, staff where strict on bag searching as you weren't allowed to take any food or drink inside, so clearly everyone was going to be subjected to paying for over-priced food and drink. We managed to collect our ticket and had a walk around the 'Mall Area'. We went to sit and watch the '2nd Practice Session' but it was so loud that I actually started going deaf! It was impossible to even attempt to talk to one another as we couldn't hear a thing. We even turned down the offer of earplugs at the entrance, as we didn't expect it to be so painfully loud. It was absolutely scorching so we got a can of coke each and sat under a parasol for a short while to watch the racing on the big screen, whilst giving our ears a rest. We walked back out to the entrance to get a pair of earplugs as there was no way we could sit so close to the track without a pair! We had a look around at the food on offer but it was a set price of RM25 for a meal, of sorts, and a drink. I didn't fancy paying five pound for some fried rice so we decided to just wait until we got back to Chinatown. We went for the bus after the '2nd Practice Session' was over. Lewis Hamilton got the best lap time, followed by Mark Webber and then Jenson Button and it was fairly close so the '3rd Practice Session' tomorrow should be interesting. My beloved Sebastian Vettel came in with the fifth fastest time, but I am sure he will beat that on Sunday! There was a little bit of a queue for our next bus but they packed it tightly and then we only had to wait ten minutes or so for our train. I fell asleep immediately on the train so the one hour journey went quickly for me! We called off at McDonald's on the way back to our B&B. Andrew was adventurous and got a halal, double McChicken sandwich. We got back to Transit Point and had a nice mug of coffee before bed.
