A trip to Little India...

Pulau Penang, Pinang, Malaysia
We got up and left it too late to get breakfast so once we were all packed we set off walking for the bus station. It was drizzling slightly and quite cool, which was nice as we didn't pour of sweat whilst carrying our backpack. We got there a little early but the bus soon pulled up, but again there was no toilet on board which is always a bit worrying for a long journey. I ended up falling asleep almost immediately anyway. The air-con on the bus was a joke and blew out warm air, so it was a rather uncomfortable journey. We stopped at a petrol station and me and Andrew quickly asked the driver if we could go to the toilet. I felt like a school child! We had a fifteen minute break at Ipoh before setting off again for Butterworth. We then had to get a ferry to Pulau Penang. The sun was shining and I struggled to walk in the heat to our guesthouse, so had to have a rest on the way. We finally reached 'Banana Guesthouse' in a sweaty mess and they didn't have our booking for a double room, so instead we had to take a twin room. We both had a shower before getting ready and walking to Little India. The whole place seemed rather quiet as we were walking around, but we soon knew we had reached Little India as it was the only bustling place blasting out Bollywood music. We passed the 'Sri Mahamariamman Temple' sculpted with thirty eight Hindu deities and very similar in design to the one in Kuala Lumpur. We ate at an Indian restaurant and then called at a 7 Eleven for a Skol beer as it was the cheapest on offer. We chilled out in our room and splashed out on a few more bottles of Tiger beer, one of which Andrew kicked over so he wasn't best pleased...
