The monster of a millipede...

Pulau Pangkor, Perak, Malaysia
We didn't wake up until 11am but I insisted that we got ready and headed to the beach immediately as I had checked the weather forecast the previous day and it was set to be a sunny day. Andrew looked sleepy but had no choice other than to crawl out of bed and get ready. We walked towards Coral Bay and had something to eat at Daddy's Cafe. The food did take just under an hour to arrive but it was freshly prepared and surprisingly good. We found a quiet spot on the beach and set about sunbathing. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and the sun was scorching so the weather forecast certainly got it right. The sea looked inviting but it was a little murky so I was apprehensive about going for a dip and as usual Andrew wanted nothing to do with the sea! We really have been spoiled and can't help but compare every beach to a perfect Thai beach and so no beach is ever quite good enough anymore! We watched as the local people swam fully clothed and went snorkeling fully clothed, which I imagine wouldn't be that easy. A very low-flying aeroplane whizzed past us and was dipping up and down which seemed a bit unnecessary. A group of men suddenly gathered behind us on the beach as I lay in a bikini, which made me feel uncomfortable enough to leave the beach and walk back to our room. We had already had enough of the sun anyway as we both had a red patch on at least one part of our body. On the way back we spotted a large, brown, but thankfully dead, millipede curled up on the ground. As Andrew was taking a picture of it a piece of fruit came rolling across the road which made him jump back, as I also heard a rustling in the forest. We thought it may have been a monkey eating fruit and throwing away the leftover.

We were sat chilling in our room when Andrew informed me that there was a monkey outside our door . I didn't believe him immediately but looked at the wall and also saw the shadow of a monkey! We looked outside and there sat a long-tailed macaque balancing very successfully on an electricity cable. There were actually quite a few lurking around the place. We had spent a small fortune eating at Daddy's Cafe earlier in the day so we opted for a pot noodle which was only around 40p and would keep us within our daily budget. It actually wasn't too bad tasting which surprised me a I hated every pot noodle I sampled in Thailand. We had Oreo's and coffee for dessert before going to bed.
