Bowling Lane

Melaka, Melaka State, Malaysia
I didn't wake up until 12:30pm so we thought we wouldn't bother eating breakfast! We got ready and set off for the Mahkota Parade Shopping Mall, stopping off at McDonald's on the way. We had a stroll around the nicely air-conditioned mall and stocked up on some toiletries whilst we had the chance. We made our way up to the top floor where there was a 24 lane bowling alley. We paid for two games and were given the best looking bowling shoes I have ever seen, as they looked like Nike trainers. On the other hand, I didn't look the best as it was compulsory to wear socks so after giving Andrew my white trainer socks I was left to wear stripy socks with my shorts. I was completely rubbish and on almost every turn I rolled the ball down the right hand side gutter. Andrew won the first game with 119 points to my dismal 60 points. I was even worse on our second game, scoring zero on more than one occasion, so again Andrew won and he also got two strikes much to his joy. We left the mall and made our way to the 'Menara Taming Sari' which was a revolving 'Gyro Tower' that was 110 metres high. However, we only reached 80 metres during the ride. We reached the top of the tower and had a panoramic view of Melaka where we saw the sites we had visited as well as the river leading out to sea. I thought it may have felt a bit strange as it was revolving but it was so slow that you couldn't really feel it moving, which was a good thing. The tower remained at 80 metres for seven minutes before returning us to the ground. We had done everything on our list for the day so we returned to our guesthouse and sat in the communal area. The daughter of the owner came and stole the Archos off Andrew, so he showed her a game she could play. She was better than me!

We drank copious amounts of Boh Tea before walking to Chinatown for something to eat . However, everywhere still seemed to be closed! The walk was still nice though and we spotted a huge mansion set back from the street. We decided to eat at the 'Riverside Kopitiam' restaurant as it was so cheap and we could then afford a beer. We sat at a table overlooking the river and had a Jaz beer. We were walking back to our guesthouse when Andrew turned to me and asked whether a leaf had landed on his shoulder. I couldn't contain my laughter as I saw his shoulder covered in bird poo! It was a little ironic as earlier in the day when we had walked underneath the same trees that were filled with birds Andrew had said how bird poo had landed on him in the past. I had to wipe it off with a leaf after taking a photo. We helped ourself to a Carlsberg back at our guesthouse.
