A little infection...

Ko Phangan, Thailand
I had another lazy morning in bed as I felt ill. I eventually got up and had a refreshingly cool shower, but whilst doing so I spotted the tail of something hanging down from our bungalow roof. I was brave enough to have a look and luckily it belonged to a gecko and not a snake, so I was happy enough to share the bathroom with it! Andrew then got ready and we drove into Thongsala and pulled up outside 'Nira's Home Bakery'. I couldn't resist buying a piece of chocolate cake that I knew tasted of chocolate to take away. I also made the decision to go to a clinic as my weak body couldn't seem to shift a cough. We found a clinic and walked inside but it was empty. We must have entered via the wrong door as somebody was seated at a desk in the connecting room. The nurse checked my blood pressure and temperature which were both normal. The doctor then checked my throat but she asked me to swallow my saliva before she looked at it again, but I explained that I found it hard to swallow the thick saliva. She then looked inside each ear and checked my breathing and again both were fine. The diagnosis was a respiratory infection that just required a course of antibiotics as treatment. The necessary paperwork was completed and I was called to the cashier desk. The total cost came to B1210, but I only had B1000! I explained I would just take the antibiotics and leave the other medication, as I had also been prescribed two other types of medication to combat my sniffling and cough. However, the nurse said I coughed quite a lot so she gave me a discount! I left the sniffling tablets but took the antibiotics and coughing tablets for B1000.

We drove back to our bungalow and walked down to the sea front . It was such a clear day that we could see Ang Thong National Marine Park, Ko Samui and Ko Tao clearly out to sea. Once we returned to our bungalow I soon ate the delicious chocolate cake. Andrew drove to a 7-Eleven to buy a bottle of water but he returned with a bottle of coke and another chocolate treat forgetting what he went for in the first place. We went to our restaurant for something to eat before returning to our veranda and deciding to apply for a working visa in New Zealand. A number of insects landed in the hammock with me and on the table as the geckos on the roof attacked them but failed to eat them so they fell to their death. I ended up head-butting Andrew on one occasion as I jumped out of the hammock after feeling something on my leg. It began to get rather windy very suddenly as if a storm was brewing so we grabbed everything and entered the safety of our bungalow. The thunder and lightning soon followed, as did the power cut. We luckily had our torch close by as I was in need of the toilet.
