I recognise the menu...

Ko Phangan, Thailand
We got up and got ready before setting off for Thongsala on our moped. However, we forgot to pick up our credit card so had to turn around as we needed it to pay for our dorm bed in Christchurch. As we were driving back down the dirt track to our bungalow something caught my eye wrapped around a tree trunk. The tree in question was the infamous 'Triple Coconut Tree' that we had come to believe no longer existed as we had not seen it since arriving at 'Lucky Resort'. It was a little disappointing as we were expecting it to be quite extravagant but each branch was really thin in comparison to a normal coconut tree. However, it was regarded as sacred to the Thai population as there were many brightly coloured pieces of cloth tied around the trunk of the tree, which is what grabbed my attention in the first place. We even wondered whether the name 'Lucky Resort' resulted after the discovery of the tree on the plot of land.

We eventually pulled up outside of the Post Office and Andrew rang Bangkok to book a room whilst I posted a parcel back to the UK, which cost a whopping B900! Andrew had no joy as the Bangkok number just rang and rang and when I rang Christchurch I received the answer phone . This meant we were going to have to make another trip to Thongsala the following day as it was the only place we could pick up phone signal. We found a book shop and I bought myself a new book before we drove back to our bungalow. We chilled out for a while before going to our restaurant for a mid-afternoon snack.

We got ready and drove to 'Big Mountain' restaurant for something to eat but it appeared to be closed so we drove to Haad Yao. We walked along the beach just as the sun was setting. We found a place that looked decent and not too expensive so we had a seat at a table on the beach. We opened the menu which looked somewhat familiar to us. It soon became clear that it was exactly the same menu used at 'Lucky Resort' and in the exact some font and colour and in every other way! It turned out to be owned by the same people. Anyway, we felt a little cheated but ordered something to eat. Our food was served which resulted in us feeling even more cheated as it wasn't as good as the food at 'Lucky Resort'. We had a Chang before walking back along the beach to our moped. We called off at a 7-Eleven for a bottle of coke as we had a bottle of SangSom back at our bungalow. However, Andrew underestimated just how much SangSom he had drunk as there was only a tiny bit left in the bottle so we ended up betting another Chang from our restaurant.
