We aren't going to make it...

Ko Phangan, Thailand
We got ready and went to our restaurant for breakfast where I filled up on banana porridge. Andrew completed his online application for a New Zealand working holiday visa before we returned to the pool side. It was yet again another sunny day and as I had burnt the front of my body the previous day I had to lay face down on the sun longer to tan the back of my body. I was in and out of the pool every minute or so in the end as it was so hot. Andrew started to feel hungry so he made a trip to a 7-Eleven and returned with a healthy snack consisting of a large packet of crisps and a large bottle of coke. We spent a bit of time in the pool and I completed reading my current book before we got ready to drive to Haad Rin. Andrew had already filled the fuel tank so we set off. We drove past 'Greenpeace Bungalows' which brought back many a memory! I had forgotten the extreme steepness of the road to Haad Rin and before long our moped was seriously struggling to climb a hill. I thought I was going to have to jump off and walk the rest of the way but it chugged on up and made it albeit it very slowly! We found 'Om Ganesh' restaurant but it looked closed so we decided to have a wander around Haad Rin. I didn't recognise anything until we made our way to the beach. The sand was brilliantly white and beautiful! It looked completely different as the only other time we had been on the beach was at New Year in the dark. The beach was spotlessly clean and every bar seemed to be undergoing a bit of a makeover. I guess the perfect time to do any maintenance would be during the low season. The strip of bucket bar signs had also been painted over white to remove every obscenity. We walked to the end of the beach and then cut up a side street towards 'SAME SAME' bar. However, it was more expensive than we remembered so we decided to head back to the 'Night Market' in Thongsala for something to eat. We both got a curry and rice dish for the bargain price of B80, which was about one pound sixty. We then started driving back towards our bungalow but we decided to stop off at 'Amsterdam Bar' to watch the sunset. It was a bit of a steep climb but the viewpoint was worth it as the sunset was completely central. There were quite a few people at the top chilling out with a beer. Once the sun had set we hopped back on our moped and called off for a cheap Chang at a 7-Eleven before arriving back at our bungalow. We sat by the pool and Andrew did his usual dive entrance which clearly made a loud splash as the pool immediately lit up. The owner had turned on the lights and as it was no longer pitch black and I could see what was in the pool I decided to have a swim. We must have exhausted all of our energy as we felt starving as soon as we got out of the pool. It was 9:30pm and so we debated whether to go and order a pancake. The debating didn't last for too long as we were soon sat in our restaurant eating the tastiest pancake ever! We were far too full and admittedly greedy as we couldn't move for the rest of the evening!
