Florence to London

London, England, United Kingdom
Today is going to be a quick one, as most of the day was spent preparing/resting-up for our departure from Florence, and the travel went smoothly.

The day started with a trip to our favorite coffee shop right at the entrance to the Ponte Vecchio, on our way to find the tax free office near the duomo . Babbo decided to hang back and stay at the flat (I think he just wanted to layout on the balcony a bit to work on his tan). When the rest of us arrived at the tax free office we were told that Babbo had to be there to do it since he was the one that made the purchase.

Next was a trip back to the San Lorenzo Market. Unfortunately, since it was Sunday, it was closed. The top floor of the market was open so we took a walk around to check it out, but didn't find anything we wanted. Although, Nonna did find a new purse in the leather market, so the trip out wasn't just for exercise.

Having struck out twice we decided to stop at the coffee shop on the way back to the flat. we also grabbed green drinks at a nearby juice place. On the way back I had a little surprise for Mommy. My diaper was getting awfully full (I tried to warn them back the market, but they didn't listen) to the point that it couldn't hold anymore and neither could I, so ... I peed on Mom. Then in the shuffle, Dad spilled one of the green drinks on himself. All in all it was a good trip out this morning.

Finally, back at the flat we got cleaned up and went to a market the was in the Piazza Carmine (where our flat was). The market had various foods and items for sale, sort of a small farmers market mixed with a small flea market. It was too hot to stay long so we headed back up to our place for a midday nap.

While the rest of us hung-out in the flat, Mom and Dad went out for a 3rd trip to the coffee shop (for not drinking coffee, Dad sure spends a lot of time in coffee shops).

At 5PM our driver picked us up to take us to the airport. The ride was fast so we were at the airport plenty early; so early in fact that the window for British Airways wasn't open yet. If you've been watching the news you might have just felt sorry for us as British Airways has had all sorts of issues the last few days. Thankfully that only involved flights at Heathrow and Gatwick, and we were flying to London City. In fact the only travel issue we had all day was when Google decided to show our flight as delayed by 4.5 hours (even though it wasn't) this morning.

The check-in window finally opened and we got checked in and went to the gate. I was tired and hungry, which we know is a recipe for an unhappy camper (my dad calls it being "hangry") . I could see the other passengers waiting for our flight looking at me and hoping they wouldn't end up near me, but I didn't care, I wasn't happy, and was going to let everyone know. Mom finally gave in and fed me the bottle they were planning on giving me as the plane took off, and started to feel much better.

We boarded the flight about 20 minutes late (on time by Italy standards) and prepared for take off. I got another bottle, but I have a feeling it was watered down. Mom and Dad kept trying to put me to sleep, but I didn't want to sleep I wasn't tired, or so I thought since after about an hour of fighting it I passed out.

When I woke up we were in London! We got off the plane made it through security and were met by our driver. He was not in a great mood, but he got us to the hotel, mainly intact (he did smash Nonnas finger with the luggage cart).

As we approached our hotel, the area began to look a bit seedy. There were bars everywhere and young people (some of which had too much to drink) were pouring out of them. But once we checked in we were happy with our hotel selection. The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly and accommodating. One of the ladies checking us in even gave me a rubber ducky for my bath.

When we got to our room, we were even more impressed Nonna and Babbo gave us the big room, so we would have more space. This place was huge (it had 4 sinks)! Too tired to do much we just washed up and went to bed. Tomorrow we explore London!
