Thermal Wonderland

20th May

The final day of our trip . We spent the morning at the Wai O Tapu "Thermal Wonderland" where the combination of boiling hot water, steam and various minerals have created all sorts of colours in the rocks, pools, lakes and streams. Admittedly it probably looks even more spectacular when the whole place is NOT shrouded in mist but it was still very colourful. And they have the biggest expanse of bubbling mud pools in New Zealand so I got to see them at last – Hooray !

Then it was time to head back to Auckland ready for our flight tomorrow. We drove through Oxford, Cambridge, Hamilton and Bombay (shouldn't that be renamed Mumbai ?) but by-passed Hobbiton this time. To make us feel better about leaving it absolutely poured with rain.

Hallo mannen!

That was one hell of a trip! It's wonderful to have had all these experiences.
You had wanted to go on this trip for so long. But why not do it again? It sounds like there's a lot more to explore, or to revisit some of those spectacular places. You certainly had prepared well for this trip. You couldn't have done it better!
And great to see how you both love it equally much X
