The flight to Seattle was just over nine hours. It was fairly comfortable, except for when we flew over Greenland when it was rather choppy. BA seems to have a new experience-enhancing offer. Passengers can now pay extra for special meals. Alan ordered the gourmet dining options and Hamish didn't. Look at the photos and see for yourselves whether the £18 was well spent. In addition, the food was served on china plates with metal cuttlery and a glass, not a plastic beaker.
We are spending one night at a hotel near the airport
. Seattle is 7 hours behind London, it will be 8 hours after this weekend. We arrived at midnight London time and didn't think it safe to get in our hired car and drive for four hours to Portland. The Red Roof Inn is fine. Basic but very big rooms. Two queen size beds which seemed appropriate!

Why oh why didn't you let me know you were going to the AAS? I'd have come, too! Just to see you!
Cheers,

I'd pay the £18, looks good! Was that in Premium Economy or Economy? Liked the bit about the Queen sized beds! Hope you have s wonderful trip. I'll catch up with the other blogs today. My phone and iPad have been completely messed up by the iOS upgrade - no links worked on either and caused apps to freeze. 3 hours on phone to Apple yesterday and can now access links in mail but still not via search engines! Awaiting Apple programmers coming up with a bug fix upgrade. Original upgrade has meanwhile been withdrawn. Anyway that's my excuse for lack of response to your messages!! Have fun! x

The main course ( under the foil) was beef cheek and it was delicious.
We flew economy, as Hamish's work paid for his ticket, so couldn't justified premium economy. We got the double seats at the back, so we have a bit more space. Interestingly, the option isn't on offer for our flight back from Vancouver.
