Storm-stayed in Drummondville, Quebec

Drummondville, Quebec, Canada
Thank goodness we (actually Tom) thought of a Plan B. The late winter storm did arrive in the Maritimes in full force, with snow, high winds, freezing rain and ice. All schools and flights in the Island have been cancelled for the day. Normally that's music to our ears, but today we're happily sitting in a warm hotel room in Drummondville, Quebec.
Yesterday we rented a car and took off for Montreal . We love driving, and it's always a pleasure and a treat to be able to experience this great big beautiful country of ours - anytime, and in any weather.
The road conditions in New Brunswick were great, only a few snowflakes here and there north of Fredericton. There's a lot of construction just west of the New Brunswick/Quebec border, coming up along Cabano. It'll be an amazing road once it's finished. We even saw an ice road across the lake, with lots of traffic on it. The ice must be very thick; we've had a good old fashioned winter.
The snow started in Quebec City, and after passing a car accident and numerous snowploughs, and with reduced visibility, we decided it was time to pull off the highway for the night. So here we are, storm-stayed in Drummondville.
The weather is slowly clearing, but there are still high winds and drifting outside. Today, we'll pack up and drive to Montreal, board our flight to Paris and then on to Spain. We can't wait for some sun and warmth.
Stay safe and warm today, we're thinking of you all,
Love Fran and Tom xx
