Long and tiring trip, but well worth it

Mijas Pueblo, Andalucia, Spain and Canary Islands
Can't believe we slept for 12 hours. We always forget that when coming east, the jet lag is longer to get over than traveling west.
Driving from PEI to avoid the storm and to catch our plane in Montreal was definitely the best plan . The snow was just clearing as we left Drummondville, but the roads were still icy and snow covered. We caught the Air France flight at 8pm, and "slept" for a few hours. We had a long wait at the Charles DeGaulle airport in Paris and the flight to Malaga, Spain was uneventful.
But, wow!, as we arrived in Malaga, the air was gentle and fresh. Even though it was gray, cool (+15) and the mountain tops were cloud covered, that sense of being in a new country was so exciting!! Cactus and grasses covered the hills as we left the airport to the village (pueblo) of Mijas.
Using the map that the owners of our apartment had sent us, we found ourselves going round and round the old Mijas village. The stores looked so inviting and quaint, but we couldn't find our apartment. At one point, we even stopped to ask the local police how to find our spot, and they got lost too.
Eventually, we made our way up the mountainside to Villa Innisfree, owned by Joan and Maurice. What a place - what a view! Maurice said on a good sunny day, we could see the Rock of Gibraltar and Morocco from our balcony.  Also, we look down towards the village centre. We had a quick run into the village to find some groceries, a quick supper and then fell into bed.
Now, 12 hours later, we woke to a beautifully sunny day, with breakfast on the balcony, cool breezes blowing at the curtains, oranges and lemons waiting for us to pick them, and wonderfully scented Mediterranean flowers blooming - we're so looking forward to exploring this part of our great big world for the next month or so.
Off to do some shopping ...
