Off to the Lands of the Vikings

The kids are all off at their camps and programs and Marcia and I begin our summer travels.

This year we chose to explore Iceland -- the northernmost country in the world.

We are planning to see it on foot, on raft, on horseback, on ship, and finally luxuriating on floats in the Blue Lagoon hotsprings.

We are attracted by the contrasts that Iceland presents -- glaciers and volcanoes, freezing rivers and boiling hotsprings, the warming Gulfstream and the Arctic waters, Viking history of a thousand years and a modern thriving country run by only 300,000 people.

We are joining 8 others on the organized portion of the trip after we take a side excursion to Copenhagen to see the seat of the ancient Northern empire.
