This morning, we toured Graceland before hitting the road again. It took us just less than three hours to wait in line, go through the self-guided tour, have a break for a cold drink, and visit the gift shops. I had purchased the tickets ahead of time to pick up at the will-call window. As it turned out, that was the longest line when we were there, and it didn't help us to get any priority to take the tour. After getting our tickets, I noticed that the clerk had moved us up for a tour thirty minutes earlier than requested so we went straight to get in line for the shuttle to the mansion. That line lasted forty-five minutes or so, but finally we were given headphones and iPads to use during the tour and escorted onto the bus.

I liked the audio tour, but didn't make use of the interactive features on the iPad . There was lots to see without adding on the extras in the software. The mansion is smaller than I expected and is now on a busy street in Memphis with just regular houses around the perimeter of it. It was fun to see the home and the funny monkeys that Elvis collected as well as hundreds of awards that he had won over the years. Graceland's decor is stuck in the 1970's when Elvis died.

Leaving Memphis, we crossed the Mississippi River and missed taking a picture of the "Welcome to Arkansas" state line sign. It was a great sign, but mounted on the bridge overhang right in the middle of the river, and we weren't quick enough to get the camera ready. We stopped for lunch then drove just half a day to stop here in Van Buren, Arkansas which is a suburb of Fort Smith for the night.
