Tonight, we heard Eric Clapton along with about 18,000 other fans at the T-Mobile Arena. We left our room to walk to the arena an hour before the show and found what looked like most everyone there in line already. The line moved quickly though through airport-style security and ticket scanning. The only choice for tickets for us were through the AXS app. Their system is different than any we’ve done before. With other online tickets, I would screen shot the tickets so they would be easy to pull up and keep on my screen. This app says that it refreshes the QR code every sixty seconds so you have to have the app live when going up to the ticket taker. I’m not convinced that adds to the security of the ticket, but that was the reasoning.
We found our seats in no time, and settled in to wait for the concert to start. A few minutes after 8:00, the lights in the arena dimmed and multiple men walked out. The first to the microphone introduced Jimmie Vaughan. He performed his style of blues for almost an hour. Next, a fifteen minute break before Clapton and his band showed up.
He was introduced briefly, too, but never greeted the audience himself. He played for an hour and a half. Just as good on guitar as always. His voice may not be as strong as it once was, but it is still good. During his set, he thanked the audience twice for the applause, but that was the extent of his talk. I have become accustomed to performers chatting a bit throughout their performances which I like. I never felt engaged much with the show. Disappointing.
Earlier today, Philip and I had both a late breakfast and an early dinner at Il Fornaio again. It was good last night, and we were too late to dinner to get a table at the Irish pub that we wanted to try. This was the easy choice.
While Philip worked on his class this afternoon, I walked across the street to see the MGM Grand. I finished my ten thousand steps for the day by walking to and around the property. It’s huge.
