Home So Soon

Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
This morning we were up early, about 6:45, with the sunrise.  The curtains of the trailer are thin and don’t quite cover all the corners of the windows.  We talked last night about how we’d probably have light in the trailer early.  We had breakfast and packed up to leave at 8:00.  I expected the office to be open by then, but the door was locked and no one was inside.  Now I’m not certain if they open the office at all in the mornings.  Perhaps they just open for check-ins.  The clerk did not tell me yesterday what to do today so we went back to Ralphie, left the keys inside, and called the office to leave a message that we were leaving.  I haven’t heard anything from them so I guess that was okay.
It took about 2 and 1/2 hours to drive home.  I hoped to pick up some fresh fruit and vegetables at a farmer’s stand on the road on the way home, but the ones we saw were not open.  I had turned the air conditioning off in our house before we left on Sunday so it was warm inside when we got home — about 82 degrees.  It will cool off overnight and should be back to normal tomorrow.
This was a good trip to get us back in the swing of travel.  Seems like we have forgotten how.  I didn’t bring insect repellent that would have been nice to have a few times, and I didn’t have any Dramamine that would have been nice to have on the train.   I checked the weather report for Silverton on Google, but it was off by more than 20 degrees.  Google said the day would be in the mid 50s with no chance of rain.  Actually it was around 80 degrees with clouds and one tiny sprinkle in the afternoon.  We need to remember to check local sources for more accurate information.
It is good to be able to travel again; I have missed it.  It's been too long.  The last night we slept in a hotel was December 4, 2019.   We have started planning trips for next year and are hopeful that we will not have to cancel any more.
