After a restful sleep in the hotel, we ate breakfast in their restaurant again since it is included with Hilton Honors Diamond status.
The desk clerk booked a taxi for us for our trip to the cruise port tomorrow at 10:15. It will be a flat fee of £20. She also asked for a taxi right away to take us to the SeaCity Museum. They have nice displays about the Titanic and the original Queen Mary ships. That Queen Mary was the one that my dad was on when returning from WWII in January of 1946.
After visiting the museum, we walked around a little and found “Slug and Lettuce” for a lunch of fried chicken wraps. The restaurant was busy. It took almost an hour to receive the food, but it was hot and fresh. While we were waiting for our food, I noticed a taxi stand across the street so after finishing lunch we walked over to get a cab to return to the hotel. The first driver in line smiled, but said to go to the next taxi. He didn’t want that far of a drive, I guess. The ride back to the hotel was shorter than the one into town, but it cost more for a flat fee of £22. The ride into town was £16.80 on the meter.
I took a nap in the afternoon while Philip read. We ordered room service for dinner. It seemed there was only one person taking orders and delivering trays. We used the drinks coupons that we received from the hotel clerk at checkin.
We watched “The Chase” on television. This British version had several questions about the USA that I thought would be hard even for a lot of Americans. E.g. “What New England state has a capital of Augusta?” We also watched the show “DNA Journey” which showed people looking for long lost family members.
Tonight, we are packed to get ready to checkout in morning and board the Island Princess.
