After another good hotel breakfast, we checked out and were ready to go when our taxi arrived to take us to the Mayflower Terminal at the Southampton cruise port.   I asked for the first boarding group of 11:00 a.m., but there were lots of people already in line outside the terminal when we arrived. They opened the doors about the time we dropped luggage, and then the line moved slowly but steadily.  We were on the ship within an hour of arriving at the terminal.  The rooms were not ready, but we found the pizza stand and the Lotus Bar for lunch while we waited.  I expected to hear a public announcement when the rooms were ready, but never did.  We went to our room after about an hour wait, and it was open for us.

Our cabin steward, Bervigef, stopped by to introduce himself and make sure we had everything we needed. He said to call him Jeff.

We booked a Club Class mini suite, D515, for this trip, and went to the Club Class area of the Bordeaux Dining Room for dinner.  Both of us went to the early evening show.  The cruise director, Andi Sanders, when introducing the comedian, said that there are 1764 passengers on board (but the ship holds 2200), and there are 900 staff members.  Fogwell Flax performed as a comedian and singer impersonator.  He did a good job impersonating Roy Orbison and Rod Stewart, but others less so.  He told old jokes for the most part.  The show was okay but not great.  

We tried out the new system called Princess Medallion by ordering bottled water for our room using the app on my phone. The two large bottles arrived in about 15 minutes.  Princess calls all their ships Medallion Class ships now.  During the pause in cruising for Covid, they were able to upgrade the last remaining ships to this system.  It’s new to us although it’s been around for a few years.  It is possible to order both complimentary and retail items other than food through the Medallion app -- extra towels or pillows, bathrobes, candy and sundries from the gift shop, prints and flash drives from the photo shop.
