Going Home

Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
The clocks were moved back one more time overnight making it easy to get up in time to make it to breakfast in the dining one before vacating our room and leaving the ship.  We waited in the Platinum/Elite Lounge for our group to be called.  They ran around 45 minutes late, but we were through immigration, out of the cruise ship terminal, and on the bus for the transfer to Fort Lauderdale Airport by 10 a.m.  We were two of the first people on this bus so we had to wait quite a while for it to fill up and leave.  No worries though as our flight was scheduled for 3:21 p.m. and the airport is pretty close to the seaport.
The flights home were fine.  Our luggage made the trip just fine, too.  I could see where it was using the AirTags app when we landed first at Houston and then at Albuquerque.  It does add a little bit of reassurance to see where the luggage is.  Last night we put our luggage outside our stateroom door in the usual way for the end of cruises.  However, we used the EZ Check program that took care of taking the bags though customs and checking them in at the airport.  This is the first time we used that service which cost $25 per bag.  It was nice not to have to look through the sea of luggage in the cruise terminal to find ours, drag the bags through customs and immigration, load them on then retrieve them from the bus transfer, and, most importantly, stand in line to check them at the airport.  I think we will use that service again when/where it is available.
We left our car at Airport Parking while we were gone.  It is the easiest for us and usually costs no more than two cab rides.  This time, the daily price has gone up so it did cost more than taking cabs would have.  The car started right away after sitting in the same spot for almost six weeks.  I am glad that we put in a new battery just a few weeks before we left.  I am sure that helped.
We have had another wonderful trip.  We are so, so lucky to be able to travel.  My favorite thing on this trip was seeing the Northern Lights.  They are just so amazing.  We saw the ethereal shapes waving and dancing in the sky like nothing else we have ever seen.  I saw only white and gray smoky cloud shapes, but with the camera’s eye, the colors became incredibly vivid.  Just a stunning sight.
Other favorites on this trip besides the Northern Lights:
     * Mary Black concert in Dublin
     * Rugby match in Dublin
     * Husky Dog farm
     * Glamping in a tipi
     * “Tina: the Tina Turner Musical”
     * “Floor Show” in London
     * People watching in Hyde Park
     * Attentive service on the cruises, especially the Club Class dining staff on the Island Princess
     * Slow crossing of the Atlantic allowing an easy adjustment to all the time zone changes
