Last day in Xi'an

Xi'an, Shaanxi, China
Today was our last day in Xi'an so we arranged with Clarence to pick us up at 9:30 AM. We went down a little early and while hubby went to the bank around the corner I got two Jianbings. After I got them I went to sit down and eat them and than when hubby got back we got into the van with Clarence and that's when the seller popped her head in and asked if we were going to pay. OMG I was mortified. I paid right than (actually I tried to pay more but they wouldn't take it). They were 5 Yuan each and so delicious.
We were soon on the rode for the hour long drive to the Terra Cotta Warriors. Nothing too exciting on the drive except for some signs etc. as it was mostly highway driving. Once we arrived we had to walk at least 1 km to the ticket office and than to the actual pits for the Terra Cotta Warriors. I was tired before we even got there.
Pit 1 was huge. So huge it was almost hard to see the other side. All the proudly standing pottery warriors were amazing to see. We took picture after picture and walked half way around. My feet were hurting and my heart was racing so I had to go outside and find somewhere to sit for awhile. I waited on some benches while hubby explored that section a bit more than we continued on to Pit 3 and than Pit 2.
I actually found Pit 2 the most fascinating with not really any reconstruction. It seemed so interesting seeing it just as it must have been found with broken bits and pieces, the front of a horse, a pottery figure laid out bit by bit in a separated line and the burnt timbers of the roof resting on top of moungs.
We finally made our way to the museum just outside the pit to see the bronze chariots. They were so cool and I was enjoying looking at one angle of them with the Chinese truism came into place - if there is a space someone will fill it - and a lady stepped right in front of me to take pictures. I actually laughed inside my head and mentally smacked myself for leaving so much room in front of me and the glass. It really didn't bother me on the trip as this happened often but unlike here it didn't feel personal and if you went in front of someone else they didn't have an issue with it either. It's just a different way of doing things.
Afterwards we made the long walk back to the car through a huge section with shops and restaurants like the quintessential "gift shop" at so many amusement parks etc.The ride back seemed long. Once we got home we snuggled up in the apartment until is was dinnertime. We decided to go for another walk through the Muslim Market. It was much quieter with less people. We had some more ice cream like the first night and than wandered down a lovely back alley which came out at the back of the Drum Tower where hubby had thought he could see and hear smells of the Muslim Market when we had visited the Drum Tower on our second night and we realized it would have been so much faster that night if we had gone this way instead of retracing our steps. Oh well. It was a lovely evening and a perfect last walk. Thank you Xi'an.
