The loud speaker came on (on the ferry) at 5.30 UK time. We were already awake and had put our watches back an hour. The ferry actually berthed at Harwich at 4.30 - I guess they unloaded all the containers then.
We'd bought a couple of things from the bakery last night, so ate those after we were all packed and ready to go
. Disembarking was easy as there weren't a lot of foot passengers, most were in their cars. We walked the mile (well that's what it seemed like) to passport control, and were there by 6.30. So much for disembarkation starting at 6.30.
The train left at 7.20. A bit of a change to our trains in Europe - back to second class, and of course it was packed.
A beautiful sunny day and I had to wear black long pants and a black long sleeved shirt - the only clean clothes I had. They were to be worn and thrown away on our travels - but it was always too warm (after France).
Arrived at Liverpool Street and walked to London Wall to catch the 141 bus to Manor House. We were the only people on the bus to start with (9.10). Arrived at Manor House before 9.30 and walked the 150 metres 'home'.
Out for a walk around Clissold Park in the afternoon, and a drink at The Brownswood on the way back. Then a bus to that so yummy Turkish restaurant - Gokwuzu - that we went to when we first arrived in London back in May.
It's all back to normal. Won't be blogging again unless we do an interesting side trip - like to Ireland or Shropshire. Or a day trip - like to Great Brington!
I love traveling by rail and I'd use Eurail again. I think next time we'll go at a slower pace. Not a continuous pass maybe (or a longer one if we do, so we can spend longer in one town without thinking we're not getting our money's worth! lol). Or even a restricted country pass - and base ourselves at one place for say 5 days at a time. Who knows.
A sunny day back in London
