Our last day

Hoek van Holland, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands
After the glorious sunshine yesterday morning, it was a bit disappointing to wake up to more rain. We didn't have anything planned for today - except for getting to Hoek van Holland to catch the ferry. We had a late (for us) breakfast at the hotel and then stayed in our room until 10.30. Got a photo of the suspended carriages on our way to the station.

An uneventful day - trains on time! We were entertained by a group of girls, about 20 years old, who'd obviously done very well at a tournament . Maybe soccer/football as I didn't see any hockey sticks. Some were sitting on the floor, lots of singing and drinking. They got off at Düsseldorf, and it was a bit quiet after that. We had a break at Rotterdam railway station in the First Class lounge - a free beer, juice, soft drink or coffee - before getting on the Sprinter to Hoek.

Had a couple of drinks at the same pub as last year at Hoek. Watched the world go by and chatted to a couple of locals. So many people on bikes - and they have the handle bars high and sit very upright. So they can see the traffic? And most bikes have baskets.

We were first to board the ferry at 6.45pm - it didn't leave until about 10pm, but we'd booked dinner and boarding was allowed after 6.45. After our 3 course meal, we changed our clocks back an hour and watched the sun set.

Arrived at Harwich and travelled by bus to Liverpool Street in London (the bus replaced the train as there was maintenance going on). Then caught the 141 bus to Bianca's.

Went for a walk in the local park, there was a Fair there, and got caught in the rain.

That's all folks!
