Breakfast at l'Hermine was pretty good (cereal, tinned fruit salad, mashed apple in a yoghurt type container, and the usual - croissants, bread, jam, coffee, juice). Such a pity the room was so tiny. Oh well ...
Arrived at the station in plenty of time
. All very new and modern in and near the station. It was only 13 minutes to Dol de Bretagne and then we had an hour's wait before we caught the 'replacement for train' bus to Mont Saint Michel. The driver dropped us at the Beauvoir bus stop and it was a 1.7km walk through farmland to our B & B. Lovely walk.
The view from our bedroom (the blue room) was superb - over the farmland to the Mont.
By 12.30 we could contain ourselves no longer - off to the Mont! We walked down the road and then through a track; then across the barrage - the track isn't marked anywhere. We then walked along the new (Dec 2014) walkway and causeway (Pont - Passerelle) and just appreciated it all. I must add - we caught the free shuttle back to the barrage!
We walked up and down stairs and kept finding new places. We saw low tide - so another 6 hours til high tide at 8pm. We had a couple of drinks at a place where we could watch the water from 5 til 6. Then walked some more; watched the water racing in and then headed back to shore. With the free shuttle and a quick dinner near the barrage, we were able to witness the full force of the high tide at the barrage.
N.B. The quick dinner was an omelette - which was disgusting. I know the omelettes here are renowned for being light and fluffy, but these oozed as soon as the fork went in. Plus they didn't even taste like egg. Good job the frites were good! and so was the ham and mushrooms on the side.

I have just read all of your blogs since Paris. A lot of the places in Brittany we went many years ago, very interesting. I didn't have much internet access in Weipa so I am catching up now.
