Had a nice lie in, a fabulous breakfast, and then just lolled about until 10.15. Then wandered down the hill to the station in the drizzle. [Matilda did offer to drive us; and there was a free bus that covered most of it.] I think last night, Haus Markus Strolz, now rates a close second best accommodation.
The waiting room at St Anton was really good - warm, lockers (4 sizes from €2 to 3
.50 per day), coffee machine at €1 a cup, and clean free toilets. We moved onto the platform just as we got the information that the train was running 15 minutes late. Time to do some yoga! There was a small enclosed waiting room on the platform. St Anton is the highest station on the Innsbruck to Bludenz train line.
EC163 left St Anton at 11.21; Imst-Pitzal 11.58 (along the Inn river); Otztal 12.08; Innsbruck at 12.32 (not so many on board after this). Got to Schwarzach-St Veit at 15.01 and caught our next train (to Klagenfurt) at 15.11 with no problems. It was just over the other side of the platform - no down and up stairs!
The EC113 had 6 seat cabins in first class - very nice if there's just the two of you. We were with a young guy from Vienna who was on holiday and he got off at Bad Hofgastein. This valley is so beautiful. And a great long golf course at Bad Gastein (well about here).
We got into Klagenfurt on time at 17.18. Took just over 20 minutes to get to our four star hotel. It was a bit of a disappointment - but win a few, lose a few. We were most upset that the wifi didn't work properly - not so concerned with the squeaky floor in the hall (and in the rooms). Nice big room and big bathroom though.
We went for a walk around the inner city - lots of umbrellas hanging up above the streets. Something is going to happen - but I don't know what. It was very nice, but rather deserted. This time we wanted a restaurant, and could only find bars and places that sold ice-cream!
Had a nice meal at Landhaus restaurant. The building above, with the outside staircase, was built 1574-94. Cool.

The places and scenes look like a page out of a children's fairy story!
I really must make sure I get over and do the Euro rail thing.
