The EIC train we caught at 7.45 was way better than yesterday's TLK train. For a start we had the 6 seat compartment to ourselves, and there were only 3 other people in the entire carriage! We were given a free orange juice, muffin, gingerbread and chocolate coated peanut. The ride was smooth, and there was free wifi.
There was a lot more agriculture between Warsaw and Wroclaw than we'd seen previously
. The land was quite flat and the fields were large. Also saw a lot more cows - but they were tethered, not herds of them.
We were supposed to stay at the Academus but they'd overbooked. So we decided to spend more and stay near the station. We arrived at 12.45 but couldn't check-in until after 2pm. So we walked down to the river and came back on the east side of town. Wroclaw hasn't impressed us as much as Krakow and Warsaw - its not as clean and has a lot of bad smells. Maybe it's because we were out of the old town. Bryan couldn't even get a draft beer close to our hotel. We went to a bar near the railway line - there were a few bars and 2 sex shops on one block - Boguslawsiesko st or something like that. It'll probably be the in place one day!
When we got to the old town about 5pm, it was very busy with loads of stalls. Probably a lot of locals about as well as us tourists, being a Sunday. It was nice and apparently not destroyed in WW2
. Unfortunately, there was only a small area where we were far enough away from the main drags to not hear the hooning motor bikes and the police sirens.
This town also has a big market square with a big building in the middle. After a false start where we sat down and ordered drinks before realising everything was very expensive! I even paid for water. Later we ate at a 'chain' type place, but a Polish chain.lol. I had honey ribs and Bryan had some sort of beef in a vegetable sauce with cranberries.
The one thing I loved was the dwarf statues. There are over 400 of them! Looks like I missed loading one of my photos - i can't tell what the photos look like when I'm loading them.
I also liked the statues of the people being ground down on one side of the street and rising on the other. I'll have to copy something from google on here when I get home.

The dwarf statues are good, Anne. I saw the people descending and rising on something on FB. Amazing.
