Brace Yourself!

Melbourne Airport, Victoria, Australia
Note to self (and others) - travel with a neck brace and sling - it didn't lead to an upgrade however we were directed to the priority seating area (along with about eight old folk in wheelchairs - talk about feeling old!) and got seated on the plane early which meant prime cabin luggage space!
Long flight to Dubai . Mike was initially quite uncomfortable but found a cosy little nook on the floor near the exit but of course that couldn't last because it was deemed "unsafe". Despite his pain he actually managed to doze on and off and slept quite a lot more than I did!
About two hours before we landed in Dubai there was a medical emergency near us. The call went out for medical personnel. Despite Mike's current handicap he went to offer assistance. There were four doctors there but the crew wouldn't let them touch the patient until their credentials were verified. Meanwhile there was unconscious woman lying there with an Aussie doctor wanting to cannulate while she had access to a vein and wanting to administer IV Diazepam. The crew would not allow it until they verified it with a doctor "on the ground". So the Aussie doctor suggested intramuscular instead. "What is that?" asked the crew member....in typical Aussie fashion the doctor replied "in your bum!"
Another note to self - it probably wouldn't hurt to carry a note stating that you will accept medical care from a doctor on the flight rather than wait while the totally clueless crew fumble around with your life.
