Having discovered Porter Air during our research for Tremblant and having subsequently traveled using their services, we like. A lot. Only downside is they leave from Newark, but we forgive them.
It's economy class the way it used to be - still a bit of service thrown in for free. The seats are decent, they have healthy snacks (almonds, apple crisps, terra chips) and offer shuttle service to where you want to go (to Mont Tremblant slopes or to Union Station in the centre of Toronto)
Toronto city airport is a small airport that requires you to take a ferry instead of an airtrain. There's a free shuttle bus waiting to take you to union station. we got moved to the earlier flight 130 which had been delayed to leave 1 min after our later flight (which in turn was delayed by an hour)
Shangri-la is 5 min from the station and run v asian style - from the seemingly all chinese staff to the blue patterned vases on display in the lobby. Room 1115 is a nice suite (Derek up to his tricks again) w a half dozen gorgeous macarons in a box and plate of fresh fruit waiting in the room.
Was up at 6 so rather tired but made it to the gym for a 30 min session to atone for the rubbish I ave been eating all day. No more corn kernel snacks.
We have dinner booked at hotel resto which looks a bit fancier than I would have liked but oh well.
Dinner was great - if only i had skipped dessert I would have been nicely full not bursting. Really nice mixed green salad w toasted pumpkin dressing followed by buttery soft bladefish w kimchi, crunchy noodle garnish and plum sauce. Mango panna cotta w most lovely passionfruit gelee and coconut lime sorbet. Blurg. Everything tasted nice and clean, wine was also quite crisp.
