Still crossing the plains

Colby, Kansas, United States
Day started slowly but in the sunshine. We set out to find early traces of the Oregon trail. Surprisingly not easy to find not much information available. However we found Vermillion Cliffs and the river crossing. Which the first toll bridge had been built charging $1 per wagon. 300 wagons passed in a day.
Rest of the journey was a bit of a slog after a short spell on the US24 we sat the rest on the I70 fortunately not too much traffic however the rain came in. This road is dead straight from St Louis to Denver across the plains. We could see the weather coming for miles which made an interesting change from the miles fields and grain silos. We called it a day about 6pm very wet and cold cold. Found a motel
