Lazy start mooching around Aspen. Modern town trying to hold on to its old thyme character. Beautiful setting tree lined streets with a little stream, coffee shops and bars intermingled with designer shops. Gucci next door to Finbar Irish bar and a gallery selling polished ejector seats and outboard engines.
Plan was today to run through to Durango or as close as we can via more of Colorado's scenic routes

A navigation error from the navigator (Tracy) meant we headed down the wrong valley, to get on the right road meant going back 80 miles or a 25 mile trail over Cinnamon Pass, after some consultation with a local we took the trail. It started ok but became a challenge the higher we got. Tracy walked some over the rougher sections. Did I walk? it felt like a climb, it was hot, at altitude I'm in bike gear I am wondering what I am doing.

The route came from the tourist office who forgot to mention you need high clearance vehicles at some points.

As the sun was setting we really were unsure where we were going so we flagged down a jeep to check the direction. I am sure it was Bear Ghrylls he was definitely English preferred to point the way than say too much, anyway just as well as Tom had missed the turning. I was walking so could not be blamed for this navigation error.

The descent was also a challenge as the sun had gone down.

Never been so grateful to find a little shack
We arrived in Silvertown in the dark

and managed to find a Motel and a take away.
Totally knackered I fell asleep fully clothed.
