Clusters last Stand

Helena, Montana, United States
We always manage to arrive at Sheridan on a Sunday when little is open. However we have a walk down the Main Street no one about.
We really need to head north so change our route so we pass The Battle of Little Big Horn monument.

The park is near Garry Owen and is amidst miles of rolling prairie land.

You can take a tour or ride your self so in the mid day sun we set of to re create the battle and see how it all went so wrong for General Custer. As with other battle sites once you are in the midst of the landscape you get an understanding of why decisions were made although in this case the wrong one. The battle actually consisted of several battles over a number of days the park service have done a great job with the local native Americans in documenting what happened so you can build up the picture until the last stand.
As normal we spend longer here than anticipated which means a long and late ride to our destination Helena.
