Bear spotting and a picnic

Stewart, British Columbia, Canada
Stewart is looking very much smarter than our last visit 2 years earlier, mining has brought some money in. The road through Hyder when you cross the border in Alaska has been paved all the way up to fish creek. This has changed the whole atmosphere of the place, it used to feel like a frontier town a bit wild and ragged, now the RVs can get through easily.
The ride up to the glacier is still unpaved and amazing.

Malcolm was keen to try out the off road capabilities of the Jeep so we followed the trail to the mine. It goes some considerable distance to eventually you get to the river running off the Glaciers.

Bear watching late into the evening limits dinner opportunities most things are closed on
Mondays including Hyder's Glacier Inn which would have been fun for a drink or two as it is an old style saloon bar.

Managed to get fish and chips in the cafe which tasted great everyone was tired after a long day outdoors.
