Carmacks, Yukon, Canada
For the last few visits Tom had wanted to ride the Robert Campbell highway from Watson lake to Carmack, on all previous occasions the weather had stopped us. The road run northwest and cuts off the corner and necessity of going to Whitehorse however it is extremely remote no towns or accommodation. It is 362 miles long and mostly gravel built originally to connect communities in the Northwest Territories and also a Zinc mine at Faro.

This time with support vehicle in tow here was the opportunity. Fuelled up we set off a semi paved road to begin with not the most interesting yukon scenery I have ever seen. Then the road works start mile upon mile of construction and not another soul anywhere. Typically with construction came the rain and so the dust turns to Mud.
After Ross river Malcolm and Jana pushed on to Carmacks, sitting in a tin box all day with not much to see and the weather horrible,
mind you on the back was not the greatest of rides either, so was glad to see Carmacks which shows how things change. I had not been happy to stay here as previous visits it had looked like a one horse town we had huddled out of the rain talking to other riders on their way back from Alaska, it shows how circumstances change your point of view. No doubt I will have plenty of opportunity to revisit this thought on our journey.
