Gold Fever

Dawson City, Yukon, Canada
A visit to Dawson is not complete without going to search for gold.

In 1896 prospectors found gold in a creek near Dawson City triggering a stampede to the Klondike. Thousands of miners struggled across the Chilkoot Pass and floated the yukon River to Dawson which soon became a rollicking frontier town. The town filled with desperate prospectors and shrewd entrepreneurs Mounties and dancehall girls.

Still today you can go to the creek and pan for gold. There must be a skill to this which none of us seem to have, even though we had lessons from a really cheery German guy.

A vist to the liquor store to get some wine for Dick, they know his favourites so drop it off at his house to repay his generosity.
