Mount Shasta, California, United States
We need to head south east today so Crater lake is the destination via the Cascade Lake highway. Then we will see where we get to Tom needs to camp.

The Cascade Lakes Highway is long but beautiful, Alpine lakes and rivers to ancient lava flows.

Eventually we are at Crater lake. First you cross this barren land which can only be described as moon scape then you climb up passed dwarf trees which open up to show you are on the edge of the crater, which is filled with the bluest water.

Afternoon is drawing in we are still a long way from anywhere, the ride out from the crater is lovely tree lined road, Porche Club had a meeting there some of their members followed us down.

It is about now that my little old faithful camera decided it had taken one too many photo's into the sun. First technical casualty of the trip hope we can get it fixed or we will have black blobs on our photos round the world as you can see.
Cross into California we really need to find some where to stay, Tom had a KOA site in mind. We ride with the sun setting which Mount Shasta looming in the distance, well just as the forest fires had made everything very hazy. The town is dominated by the volcano which is part of the cascade range.

Second night camping, better organised this time, camp site with in forest area however a bit dusty but otherwise ok. Walked into town for expensive Thai meal. The town is a full of hippy types that want to be off the beaten track but not totally it has a really laid back feel. Northern California is like this in a few places.

Trains ensured we had a disturbed night.
