So many views - what a place

Groveland, California, United States
The run down to Yosemite National park is the most beautiful and breathtaking sight I have ever seen. From the first sight of the valley and its natural beauty you can not help but take a million photos.

The views from the valley floor are just a incredible looking up to El Capitan or the Half dome.

We then went to Glacier Point, 16 mile slow tree tunnel road which leaves you completely unprepared for the vista at the end.

The trees suddenly break and you pop out of a tunnel and there is this most incredible view over the valley. It does not stop there we park the bike and wander to the view point. 3214 feet high we look straight down on Curry Village. Even Tom who does not like heights at the best of time managed a peek, awesome.

From here we carried on round the park to Wawona and Mariposa grove to see the big trees.

Since we were last here there has been another fire which although is supposed to have helped the Sequoias it has taken some of the beauty from the area. However the big Sequoias are incredible stately objects. Old men standing over the rest of the forest. The hike was longer than we expected and were warned by some other hikers that the car park would be locked. We hurried back to arrive at the car park just as the sun was setting. There must be a fire somewhere as there was a strong smell of smoke and the smoke filtered the sunlight as it streamed through the trees. We have now a 50 mile journey back to the hotel, this actually tired out to be 100mile our progress slowed by the smoke fortunately no road closures which would happen a day later. We arrive back just in time to get a burger and chips from the restaurant. Yet another park underestimated.
