Tioga Pass after 10years and 3 attemps

Bridgeport, California, United States
Left Yosemite after watching grizzly bear with two cubs from window of motel room.

Tioga pass was open and was fantastic.

We have attempted to cross this pass on 3 occasions each time the snow was still not cleared from the road in June and July, it was worth the wait. Today the weather was warm and a clear blue alpine sky The road climbed up through the forest until we were running along side a mix of knarly pine trees and huge rounded boulders At the top Olmsted Point

the view opens up to an amazing view over the park with the half dome standing centre stage in all it's glory. The park had set up a telescope to view the valley which enabled us to see the climbers on their way to the half dome. I expected one or two but there was a procession of hundreds one after another in a line right to the top incredible.

This is still on my list to join them one day, you have to leave before dawn it is a 2 or 3 day hike. Bit of preparation needed I think. We continued on to Tuolumne meadows stopped for a picnic wide open grassland idyllic how lucky are we......

The pass road is one scenic view after another finishing with the blue blue Mono Lake.

Visited Bodie in the afternoon a gold mine town which is now a ghost town. History was really interesting as to the rise and fall of what was once a huge town. Beautiful light for photos

New Kriega bag really good, and intercom system working ok.
