A very windy ride to Vegas

Monday, September 08, 2014
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
A late start from Bridgeport after FT everyone we headed into headwinds for most of the day.
Still fairly high the view over Mono lake is quite breath taking contrast in colours of the blue lake and the reds and yellows of the desert.

Short stop in Lone Pine it has become a tradition to have a lemonade and a BLT at the Totem Cafe,
no longer the selection of jewellery they had on offer last time which was a shame.

We continue on first to the Panamint valley which is reached via a number of switch backs curves offering incredible views at each turn.

Then across Death Valley. Stopped at Stovepipe Wells Junction, we should stop here for a night next time we travel through. Looks like new accommodation but we did not check it out. Very hot, never try to eat an ice cream at 120 degree.

From Pahrumph The sun was setting and there is rain ahead. low red sun and dark angry clouds flash flood warnings had been issued.
Arrive in Vegas staying at Bally's across the strip from the Bellagio

Walking into a casino hotel is an experience of opposites, the strip particularly by day is quite a calm place however when you walk inside a casino. The concophany of noise, chink chick chick of the slots, the flashing lights, the music playing, people rushing here and there we are in Vegas.
